Friday Finds: Country Chic Handmade Boutonnieres.

Our wedding reception in June is growing ever closer and I've still got a lot in the works to make & do.  I've already shared our plans to make homemade jams as wedding favors here and here, but I haven't shared with you yet that I plan to make the boutonnieres and corsages.

Since we eloped, it is very important to us to find ways to include & honor friends and family members that would have had a part in the ceremony otherwise.  One small, but special detail will be making boutonnieres and corsages.

While using fresh flowers is lovely, I have decided that creating something extra special that will last is more important.  That way honorees can hold on to a memento, but I also think taking the time to make it myself will add an extra degree of meaning.

1      2      3      4

These are all beautiful tutorials found on pinterest (but linked to the original sources).  I will definitely be trying #2 start to finish as I think it's totally easy and fitting.  I'd love to experiment a bit and perhaps include elements from the others as well.

The next four images are from etsy:

5      6      7      8

I really appreciate the palette and woodsiness of #6 & #7.  I think either of these would totally convey the sophisticated style I'm going for.  Just look at that ribbon rose though in #5- love it.  And #8 is a collection of shabby fabric roses I already bought to do a bit of messing around with.

So as you can see, I've got my work cut out for me.  I think I just need to hit up a few craft stores and just play around with materials for a bit.  Hopefully I'll have a finished product & maybe even a tutorial for you soon!

Where did you get the roses?
I was thinking of adding some to my strap covers.

#2 is my favorite! Very sweet and your choice of fabrics would make them individual and special. Plus the design could be for both men or women, depending on the fabric!

Great idea to make them for your friends and family!

I just wrote about paper flowers (in part) for my Saturday Link List - go over and check out my Etsy finds. #1 on top is something I've never seen before - using feathers! Great idea to make your own. Good luck - will you show us your result? {:-D

I agree with you that making your own buttonieres will make your special day even more memorable. The possibilities in these photos are amazing!
