Many of you know that I am a member of the etsy team Blogging Business Artisans. Each month, one of our fellow team members chooses a prompt for us to be inspired by and create a piece of work in response to. This month the prompt was created by Splendid Little Stars and directed us to:
"Spring is in the air! Create a project that calls to mind how one or all the senses respond to this new beginning time of year."
I thought this was a lovely challenge, and felt very inspired by my walk at the park. I just loved soaking up the sun that day, and found myself very inspired by the sounds and colors in the pond, especially these lilly pads.
There was just something magical to me about the way the sun reflected off of their wet surfaces and how their color ranged from pink to mauve and into shades of green.
A friend of mine and I got together last weekend, and we both decided we'd learn to make those wrap bracelets that you see everywhere these days. While bead shopping, I came across these beautiful ones (not sure what the stone is) and knew this had to be my challenge piece. The color was just too perfect!
I also made a second one too in white with gold flecks, representing the sun's brilliant reflection.
While I'm not typically a jewelry maker, it is fun from time to time to try something outside of your normal meda. (And NO I'm NOT planning on selling these- LOL) That's the great thing about these challenges, I never feel pressure to make something I would consider selling, rather, I use them as the opportunity to make something I want just for me, or to learn a new technique.
If you're interested in joining up with us, we're now accepting new applicants. Find out more about the Blogging Business Artisans here.

I never would have thought to use those colors for Spring, but after seeing your photos...they're perfect! Great take on this challenge!
And I love that you use these challenges as an opportunity to create for yourself :)
Nancy, how beautiful! What a wonderful write up on the Challenge! I love how you told and showed us what inspires you about Spring and then used those colors in your artwork.
Brilliant!!
Nancy, you really captured the lilly pad with those green beads. They are perfect.
I'm not a jewelry maker either but I really got hooked on these bracelets a while back. They are fun to make!
I don't think there's anything you can't do! Those turned out wonderful and they are spring-y after seeing your photos! Great job Nancy!
I'm really loving the photo of the ducky :)
The beads are a perfect match!!
I can never get close enough to one of our ducks to snap one. They are very shy.
Love the photos! Beautiful! And your bracelets are awesome! Happy Thursday xxx
The bracelets are really nice! Did you follow any tutorial?
I agree with Edi that this is a unique take on a spring color palette. It fits perfectly with your photos, though. Very inspiring!
I also enjoy that we do not have to sell our BBA challenge items. It has pushed me to try some brand new projects that I wouldn't attempt otherwise.
Those turned out very organic looking, and pretty! I love your nature inspiration of the lily pads. Very creative!
gorgeous! i love the earthy look of that green one. i can really see how you utilized your inspiration, which is really cool :)
Fabulous job on the bracelets! The greens really look like the lily pads!
so cute! great project.
Very fun - I like the way they turned out. I agree - sometimes it is fun to try something completely different - especially for the challenges.
Very cute bracelets. Sounds like a fun project and I love the photos that you were inspired by.
The pond from your walk is full of great colors and inspiration. What fun bracelets, I hope you enjoyed making them.

Everyday Inspired
I love how the colors you photographed morphed into the colors of your bracelets. And the bracelets themselves are really lovely! I don't know what the stones are called, but you can certainly call them "pretty!" :-)
Those water lily photos are amazing! I think those bracelets definitely reflect the inspiration. I've been wating to try making some of those, too. So many possibilities!
Love the photos especially the bracelet.
