Made: Sunglasses Case & Gift Bags for my Bachelorette Party

As promised, today is the big reveal of my finished handmade bachelorette party gift bags!  But first, an new addition to my Project Sewing 101 collection: the sunglass case.

I followed this tutorial, and felt that overall, it was a pretty well written one.  I never felt confused, and steps were explained in detail with adequate photographs.  Any mistakes I made are totally my fault!

Mostly, I'm finding that I'm still struggling with crooked stitching.  I think I'm still trying to sew too fast, and I'm not always paying attention to monitoring the fabric against the presser foot- making sure that stitches are even.  I'll get there though.

On to the bachelorette gift bags!  I've made coordinating sets like pictured above: a card wallet, sunglasses case, tissue case, and coin purse for each of the ladies.  It feels good to have this much practice under my belt, and I do feel that I have mastered most skills required here with the exception of the aforementioned crooked stitching.

I didn't want to use too much disposable wrapping, so instead of wrapping each gift in tissue, I bundled them using pretty, shear ribbon.

I placed them in brown paper gift bags, topped them with one square of tissue, stamped them with a thank you message, and added my homemade matching gift tags.  I'm pretty proud of how they turned out and my ladies raved about their gifts over the weekend!

They look fantastic. They are lucky girls.
And I love the sunglasses case. I think I might have to check out that tutorial. Even if I suffer from the same "sewing to fast and having crocked stitching" affliction ;-)

What beautiful gift sets! I'm glad that your ladies loved them. It's awesome that the sunglasses tutorial went so smoothly.

I'm always looking for ways to eliminate disposable wrapping. The ribbon is great.

The sunglasses cases looked wonderful, and the package overall for each of the ladies was stunning! Your presentation added a lot to a very special "given from the heart" gift. They'll remember this gift forever (and you, of course)!
