5k, You Are in My Sights.

If I have any hope of ever completing my ultimate goal of entering in a triathlon, I have a lot of work to do.  I have to train from the ground up, basically, start from scratch.

I need to train in distance & sprint swimming, running, & biking of course.  But I also need to add in lifting, and yoga for the all important stretching, balance, and flexibility benefits.  In the future I'll also add some transition days, where I get my body used to swimming a certain distance and then immediately hitting the pavement for a run, or ride, and variations thereof.

I'm not quite there yet though, and I know the training will be quite a process.  In light of my previous posts last week, I thought you might be curious to see what I do on a day to day basis as of now, and what my short term goals are.

This fall, I won't be swimming (due to $$ I decided not to join the pool over the winter), nor will I be biking (don't have one yet)!  So instead, I thought it would be a great time to focus on running and even enter a few races just to push myself.  I've registered for the Turkey Tumble for Autism, on November 18th.  Yay!

So, here is my current workout schedule for the fall:

MONDAY
Treadmill Run- (including warm up & cool down) 5 miles.
Lift- Upper body, Abs

TUESDAY
Outside Run- Whatever I can do!
*Running outside is new to me, so I figure I'll just start out by focusing on running for longer and longer sets between walking.
Yoga

WEDNESDAY
Treadmill Run- (including warm up & cool down) 3 miles.
Lift- Upper body, Abs

THURSDAY

Outside Run- Whatever I can do!
Yoga

FRIDAY
Treadmill Run- Sprint training- 30 mins.
Lift- Upper body, Abs, Lower body

You go girl! So exciting! Looks like you have a great schedule for the fall. Have you heard of the bosu ball Nancy? Tom and I have been using it when we lift and oh my. It feels good. You have to balance the whole time which means your whole body is working out as you lift. I love it :) You should def check it out, I recommend it to all my friends. That with yoga and pilates and jump roping is my work out. There is also this Youtube video: Uh oh obliques that we love. She does a good job working the obliques, it tough! lol Anyway have a great day!

A triathlon, that's awesome. I work with a bunch of people that do marathons and triathlons, I am in awe of all of you. Me, I think I'll stick to my bike. Good luck with training, you'll do fantastic.

Go, pally, GO!!! I'm very impressed with your running. I can't do that. Don't want to more than anything. ;)

I'm shopping for a new pool. I want to swim again.

looks like a lot to do, just starting out. But if your body is used to being on the treadmill, it sounds like a good idea. I remember we were told that 3 times a week was a good schedule, but marathoning is tough going. Good luck to you! {:-D
