Made: Project Sewing 101- Receiving Blanket.

This week and into next I'll be revealing the last 3 projects in my learn to sew book, Project Sewing 101.  This chapter, Baby, was quite fun to work through, and all three projects were really pretty straight forward and easy.  The only added challenge, or new skill, was a bit of embroidery.

The first project in this chapter, a receiving blanket, required 3 lines of different types of embroidery stitches on one side (the running stitch, an inverted cross stitch, and a cross stitch).  These were pretty straight forward, and while I could have spaced them out a bit more I think, they turned out pretty nicely.

I'm particularly fond of the fabric I found for this project.  They're both flannel, one a solid grey, and the other that great aerial view of a cityscape in shades of blue, grey, and neon.  How cute!

I really, really enjoyed this project and the others as well.  Can't wait to show them off!  Stay tuned.

Question: What have you been working on lately?

Very cute-- I like the "uptown baby" comment. :) As for me, just more of the same: lip scrubs!

I like the embroidery. That's a nice switch on the back.

Looks so cute! And I love the modern fabric too. I remember when my son was born it was so hard finding stuff that wasn't pastels with cutesy animals.

Cute fabric! And the embroidery adds such a fun touch to the reverse side!

How cute! Love the embroidery detail.

I've been working on taxes and custom Etsy orders, I'm afraid. Still need to finish my granddaughter's grad quilt before June.

This is so awesome. I love that the fabric is bold; so many people to pastels for a baby (which is fine, obviously) but it's fun to see something different!

Wow, that looks great!

I've been working on nothing but school work. FUN.

I turned out great! I really like your fabric choices. It's nice and bright but not overly baby'ish. I have so many baby gifts to make! This looks like it could be a good option.
